hurray for fall
It’s cold and raining this evening in my little corner of New England. Fall is here, and I’m so very glad. It’s my favorite time of year. And even though the Red Sox tanked, the Nittany Lions are back. Roar.
Here’s the quick summary of my summer. I took a quick, last-minute trip to Pittsburgh in early June to hang with a couple friends and catch a couple Pirates games. PNC Park is beautiful. In July, my niece graduated high school, and Marlin and I travelled to Central Pennsylvania for a graduation party slash reunion slash pigroast. Yummy. The rest of the summer? Massive work project that sapped pretty much all my other time, including evenings and weekends. The day we launched the project, just before Labor Day, my family started arriving and were visiting/vacationing here for 10 days. That takes me to mid-September, and I’ve been in some kind of funk since then.
I’m so woefully behind on calling and returning emails to friends both near and far that I’m somewhat embarrassed by it. And, at least for the past couple weeks, it’s not been for the lack of time to do so, but rather a failure to make the time to do so. I need to rectify that. I also needed to sort through hundreds of photos I’ve taken over the summer, and I took my Columbus Day holiday to do that. Around 50 new photos are now posted in the gallery — a handful linked in the paragraphs above and below.
If you’re poking around in the gallery and see photos of some very cute cats (like Snowball and the kittens), rest assured that’s the next blog entry. We’ve got a family of 5 stray cats living in our backyard on our porch, and it appears I’m going to be temporarily adopting (housing) them and working with Kitty Angels to find them homes.

He’s back! Sounds like you had a very busy summer, both work and fun. The cats and kittens are adorable, I will check out the other pics in a bit. I have something to discuss with you, but I will give you some time to catch up on your emails first.
Just drop me a note when you get caught up.
Welcome back! Missed you.
Oh Hurray! I’ve missed you woefully, especially after last night’s Steelers win, I immediately thought “Oh I do hope Ron saw this.”
really, I did.
go Big Ben! (hope that knee heals well).
looking forward to your gallery shots.
Working through summer is the worst. I’m feeling it right now, though, with the recent 70 hour work weeks. Ugh. I feel like a sucker.
Glad you’re alive and writing-enabled!
I hate fucking fall!
I second Jack’s sentiment
